Each piece of my artwork is crafted using textile elements that are influenced by the rich history of botanical imagery within domestic arts through brilliant motifs. Each have ways to create a narrative about biophilia, bringing the outside in to seek a connection with nature. I combine influences such as botanically patterned 17th century wallpapers, with the use of contemporary colors and textures that are currently found within the home. I am creating pieces that provoke a desire to be collected, referencing the exotic and popularly sought-after plants today. Each piece has layers and embellishments that are constructed with finer details of stitch to reflect the time and attention that goes into caring for nature, one plant at a time. I enjoy these nuanced details and hope to inspire conversation and a pause for reflection when spending time with my work.
